Wellington Warriors show their muscle in Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot-out


The Wellington Warriors compiled a 5-0 record in this weekends Thanksgiving Day Tourmanent.  The Warriors defeated the AABC League Champion Weston Hawks twice by scores of 21-8, and 13-0. 

The Warriors also defeated a scrappy Miami Legends team 10-9 during pool play.  Wellington coming off the FLPB 9u runner up last weekend was looking to add to there championship season.  In the first elimination game.  Xavier Smith (8k's) and Will Anglin combined to no hit the Hawks in the 13-0 victory. 

In the next round Ethan Levi pitched 4 strong innings for the Warriors as they defeated another AABC team the Weston Rattters 12-2 to continue their hot streak.  The championship game would prove to be a great challenge for the Warriors. 

The Davie Bears led by Coach Louis Zayas got out to an early 6-0 lead.  The Bears have won several USSSA tournaments this season, and was looking to continue there great play.  But the Warriors were not to be denied.  The Warriors answered in the bottom of the first inning with 5 runs of their own.  The game was a seesaw battle for the next 3 innings.  The Bears entered the 5th inning clinging to a 1 run lead.  The Warriors came up with 8 hits in the 5th inning, sending 13 batters to the plate.  Eight runs later the Warriors were up by 7 runs.  The Bears battled back for 3 runs in the 6th, but came up short.  The Wellington Warriors earned  a tough 16-12 victory.  Congratulations to both teams on a fine FPBL season and USSSA Thanksgiving Tournament.  The Warriors were led by a number of players this weekend.  Xavier Edwards was outstanding at shortstop for 5 games.  Xavier also went 13 for 16 at the plate during the 5 games.  TJ McKenzie added 6 hits, 10runs, and 8sb's.  Jason Fox added 3 hits, 8runs, and 9sb's.  Xavier Edwards added 13 hits, 13runs, 15sb's and 8rbi's.  Kyle Bowman chipped in with 4 hits, 5runs, and 5 rbi's.  Jacob Mercado had 6hits,8runs,and 5rbi's.  Andrew Johnson collected 6hits,6runs, and 5rbi's.  Ethan Levi added 5hits, 2runs, and 9rbi's.  Xavier Smith added 5runs and dominant pitching. Nick"mailbox"Adams pitched great in 2 games.  Nick also contributed 7hits, 6runs, and 6rbi's along with his great pitching. Jacob Weiss added a hit, 4runs, and an rbi.  Will Anglin added 3hits,6runs, and 3 rbi's.  The Warrior pitchers only walked a total of 18 batters in 5 games.  6 of those walks came in the championship game.  Congratulations to the Warrior Coaches Jovon Edwards, Sean Mercado, Jeff Fox, Jason Weiss, and the Warrior Parents.
