Wellington Warriors-Gold defeats Okeeheelee Canes 3-2 to stay on top in the 9U National Division

In a well-played contest between two of the top teams in the 9U National Division, the Wellington Warriors-Gold defeated the Okeeheelee Canes 3-2 last night.  Jordan Bustabad scored the winning run after a lead-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Pitching and defense were on the center stage as evidenced by the tight low-scoring game, a potential go-ahead run being cutdown at homeplate in the fifth inning, and each team turning a double play, making clutch outfield catches and infield plays, and combining to commit only one error.

The Warriors-Gold were led by the stellar pitching of Christopher Seymour, Krishna Raj, and Myles Cohen, who combined to only allow two hits, six walks, and 9 K's.  They were matched by the Canes fine pitching from Logan Cook, Pierson Reynolds, and Dylan Tosto, who combined to only allow three hits, seven walks, and six K's.

The win moved the Wellington Warriors-Gold into first place with a record of 6-1. The two nearby teams will meet again in ten days in hopes of duplicating the fine play.
