Miramar Maddogs coming back to the top.........................

Remember us .......We're back !!!

As a 9 Under team they were a promising power house club and it seem that they would be a perennial finalist in the league. In only their second season they defeated  the PPO Bengals in the League Championship Series 2-1 but that's where the Maddogs joyful beginning in the FPBL went a bit south.

The following season the Maddogs went south not just in wins & losses, but to play in the Tamiami League and played in both leagues to try and get back to their winning ways. It seem then, that the road to the FPBL title in the Maddogs age class would have to go through the PPO Bengals and while the Bengals continued to win where ever they went the Maddogs struggled in Tournament play as well as league play. Well, spring forward to last year's  Maddogs, after many players moving in and out like we have is in most travel ball clubs, the maddogs  go to Cooperstown and managed to make it to the Elite 8 only to loose a heartbreaker, but come out of Cooperstown feeling good about their play.

Having had success as a 12U team doesn't guaranteed that when you step up to the 13U where now you're pitching from 54 ft and the bases are back to 80 ft you will have the same success, sometimes you take a step back before you move forward and that seems to be what the Maddogs have done and it's paying off. Last season the Maddogs in their first season as 13U  team watched the playoffs from the sidelines as they say in Football, but things are looking brighter these days, the Maddogs are up on top just like they were in 2003 where they stood right by the Bengals and were as equally talented, today you have both the Maddogs and Bengals on top of their division and both look as good as they did 5 years ago...................Will  this be the season that the Maddogs get back to their winning ways and get that second elusive FPBL Title ?

While both the Maddogs ( 6-2-1 ) & Bengals ( 6-2-2 ) are on top of their division now, there are no gurantees in this age division................the Stars, Cowboys, Crossfire have been a thorn in these teams back and come playoff time anything can happen !
