Veterans Day (November 11, 2015) or what has come to be known as Veterans Day, was actually set as a United States legal holiday to pride Armistice Day - the end of World War I, which formally took place on 11 November, 1918. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an truce, or transient disconnection of hostilities, was proclaimed between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as “the Great War.” Commemorated as Armistice Day starting the following year, November 11th 2015 became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938.

Veterans Day is a public holiday that is dedicated to observance one who has served in the U.S. military. The holiday began as a day to mention the end of World War I and was proclaimed a holiday by President Wilson in 1919. Originally known as Ceasefire Day, the holiday became Veterans Day in 1954.
