2006 Fall Season Champions................Congratulations!!!!!!

The Florida Premier Baseball League 2006 fall season came to an end this past Sunday, what it a season it was!!!! The League had is largest increased of teams ever with over 140 teams taking part in our program. Teams from as far as north as North Palm Beach and from down south to Homestead, a record setting season in more ways than one.

The first ever perfect season was also part of our record setting season when the 12U PPO Bengals defeated the West Pines Cobras 2-0 in their Championship Series. The  Bengals who finished the season 16-0 reel off 4 more wins in the playoffs to complete a perfect season at 20-0 never before in the league's short history has a team gone undefeated in both the regular & post season. The Bengals defeated a very solid team in the West Pines Cobras, a team that knocked out the # 2 Broward Scorpions and # 3 CS Diamonds and a very good # 7 CS Claydogs team, but the Bengals were a little bit better than the Cobras this time.

The 11U Broward Scorpions prove me wrong as they defeated a very good CS Sandlot team to win their first FPS title. The Scorpions had an early exit last season and were out  to prove that my prediction didn't hold water with them. Congratulations to Coach Bengi and his staff.

Wellington's 10U was a long shot in my eyes, but not to Coach Dave Smith who played a very tough schedule to get his team ready for the playoffs and the tough schedule paid off. The Warriors took care of last season defending Champions West Pines Cobras by defeating them 2-0 in the Championship Series.
The 9U Nike Cobras also, had something to prove as they too were left out in my prediction. The Cobras defeated a very good Wellington Warriors team 2-0 to win their first in what I feel will be one of many more titles to come in the FPS League.

The best match of the Championship Series was between the 13U  West Boyton Mustangs and the Hialeah Tigers, the favorite against the underdog. The Mustangs played a tough schedule to get to the finals, the Mustangs defeated the Miramar Canes, Weston Hawks and the CS Marlins to get to the Tigers. In the first game the Mustangs barely got by the Tigers in a 4-3 affair, but the Tigers fought back to take the second game and even up the series at 1-1 but when you combined pitching and good hitting is tough not to win and that's what the Mustangs did against Hialeah to take the third and decisive game against the Tigers. congratulations to Coach Gary Bussey in winning their first FPS league title.

The SF Snappers defeated the Homestead Storm 2-0 in their best  of three, the Storm fought hard to get to the finals by defeating some tough teams in the Parkland Pokers and division leader Plantation Stars. The Snappers took care of business by taking care of the CS Pirates in the semi final game. This is Coach Ernie Gonzales 2nd FPS title.
The 16U had two teams that were not expected to be there in the finals. The Broward Nationals defeated the CS Colts in two games to win their firs FPS title. Coach Vic deserves a lot of credit in getting this team where they got, this team was overlooked by me and everyone else. The Nationals defeated the Parkland Pokers 8-0 to get to the finals, after beating the SF Snappers in a 3-2 affair.

Congratulations to all for a terrific season!!!!!
