10U Rattlers Maroon Roll with two more wins............
Monday, October 9Rattlers 10U "Maroon" Team Win Two More...Now 5-2 For The Fall Season.
The Weston Rattlers 10U "Maroon" Team played 2 more divisional games this weekend and came away 2-0.
On Satruday afternoon (10/07), the Rattlers won a controlled game 11-7 against the cross town rivals, the Weston Hawks "Black," at Vista Park. Evan "25" Klugerman (25), our starting catcher did a flip-flop by actually starting as our pitcher and threw a very nice game. As Evan develops his pitching skills, he continues to prove himself to be a valuable all-around player. Young Angel "Sparky" Amadeo (7) got his first opportunity to pitch for the team and received valuable experience in the outing. Finally Rafael "Rafa" Amanau (8) received the game ball for his tremendous play at third base and with his bat; however, according to Head Coach, Jose Vera, "It was his team attitude that was the key to his [and our] success!"
Sunday morning (10/08), the Rattlers faced the tough West Boynton Tornados (in Boynton) and wouldn't let losing be an option, winning a close one 7-6. After jumping on the Tornados for 4 runs in the top of the first, Choppy (35) started the game (already 2-0 for the season) with his usual command and control. Highlights included fine team play by Tommy "Big Papi" Taborda (34), who continue to bomb the ball at the #3 spot and also provided key middle relief. Also, he, along with Brett "Peanut Boy" Kean (24), Choppy and Rafa combined to finally pull off the fake throw to second on a pick off move and ultimately fooled the runner to think he could take third base. A quick throw to John Ham (32) at third and the runner was out! Along with John Ham, who got the game ball for his all around contributions, Choppy, now 3-0, received his first game ball of the season (he also went 3-3 at the plate).
