Collier Tiger 9u shows the South teams they too can play Ball !!

Playing open bases for the first time the Collier Tigers showed  no signs of being first-timers at it. They played hard and beat all of the teams they played and although it was a challenge playing open bases, the kids seemed to like it. They took on the Miami Phenoms on their first game and squeeze past them with a 9-8 win, then they just roll past the Pokers 10-4 and would cruise in the playoff games until the Championship Game where they faced the Hawks Red.

The Championship game turned out to be  defensive battle between both the Tigers and the Red Hawks. Scoring was at a minimum due to the stellar pitching of both teams, most notably Matthew Geller of the Tigers who went the distance.
The Red Hawks capitalized first getting two in the first inning. Geller settled in, and with great defensive efforts turned in by short stop Dawson Jones and Paddy Sullivan at catcher the Red Hawks would not score again. Clutch hitting by an injured (lost a tooth prior to the game by taking a ball to the mouth) Vincent Kythreotis, Isaac and Tony Palacio helped spark the Tigers rally. Excellent base running by Brodie Repicky and Luke Murphy proved to much for the Red Hawks as the Tigers were able to put six runs on the board to finish out the game. A tip of the hat to the Red Hawks who battled to the end.
