USSSA Youth Baseball Tournament to be First Event on New VBSV Fields 

VERO BEACH, Fla.- Vero Beach Sports Village is proud to announce a Florida Premier Sports/USSSA sanctioned tournament from April 27-29 will be its first event on the new youth baseball/softball fields. The event will be a warm-up tournament for any 12U, Team going to Cooperstown this summer. Also, divisions 14u & 16u are also being Invited to play in this event.

Vero Beach Sports Village, in conjunction with the Treasure Coast Sports Commission has formed a relationship with Florida Premier Sports to host USSSA sanctioned events at its complex.

"We were trying to establish USSSA in the area and with the help of the Treasure Coast Sports Commission we managed to do our first event," said Gaspar Palmer, USSSA South Florida Area Director."Our goal was to get more events in the Treasure Coast area."

"It was difficult to run our events at VBSV in the past since we did not host older age group tournaments. Now that the new (youth-sized) fields are going in, we will have an outstanding relationship with VBSV and be able to bring a lot of teams into the area. It is going to be great to bring the teams into a historical phenomenal facility like VBSV."

The new, state of the art cloverleaf of fields are scheduled to be completed by April 6. The fields will be located adjacent to Holman Stadium and will accommodate boys' youth baseball and girls' fast-pitch softball. The new addition to VBSV will feature covered spectator seating and a centralized plaza with full concessions and rest rooms.

Florida Premier Sports/USSSA expects to bring in about 24 teams in the 12u Division for the tournament. Also, another 12-16 teams are expected in the 14u-16u age class. There are still spaces left to sign up. Teams in the 12u Division interested in playing must have a Cooperstown Certificate with the right to attend the tournament beginning in June.
