The Mavericks-Black team never say die attitude got them the FPS Junior Varsity Division League Championship. Trailing by two runs and with two outs in the last Inning, the Mavericks caught a break when a ground ball hit by the first baseman, but snagged by the second baseman and a dropped third out ball by the pitcher covering first base allowed the Mavericks to have a second chance. The next batter would be Carlos Cartaya Jr. who had  blasted two Home Runs in his first two at bats, Cartaya was walked and that allowed Justin Lamazares to bat and on a 1-2 count he blasted the Walk-Off over the right field fence to crown the Mavericks-Black in dramatic fashion as FPS Summer League Junior Varsity Champions.
