On July 10, 2011, the Mizuno Edge defeated the Key West Conch 5-4 to win the Championship Game of the Kendall Craze.  Chad Fleischman went the distance pitching 7 innings and taming the very potent Conch offense.  Chad had 6 ks and he retired the last 9 batters in a row in notching the victory.  In the bottom of the 7th inning with 2 outs and 2 strikes, Zack Kone smacked a dramatic walk off single to left center to win it.  Kone was 3 for 4 in the game with 2 rbis and a run scored.  Mac Nathanson hit a key rbi double and hosed 2 guys at 2nd base from the catching position.  Matt Rothenberg singled, walked twice and scored 2 key runs.  Dom Baldino singled and had a key 1st inning rbi and Fleischman also knocked in a big 1st inning run.  Richie Rocca singled and scored, Michael Grey had a clutch hit, and Nick Ferngren walked twice. Baldino made 2 spectacular plays at 2nd base.  In the 5th inning, Baldino, Rocca and Kone all made sparkling defensive plays as the Conch went down 1,2,3. It was a real team effort.

 

For the Tournament, Kone went 9 for 12 with 11 rbis and 4 runs scored; Rocca was 7 for 12 with 9 runs scored; Nathanson was 4 for 9 with 5 rbis and a clutch 2 out 3 run double in a key pool game victory over the Conch; Rothenberg was 3 for 6 with 8 walks and 10 runs scored; Michael Grey and Rothenberg combined to shutout the Pirates in the Semis; Max Tannenbaum and Colin Taylor threw well in the pool game victory over the Conch; Fleischman had 4 rbis; and Grey had 3 hits.
