PALM BEACH PIRANAZ 10U - Champions in Boynton

The Palm Beach PIRANAZ 10u team went 6-0 in the Boynton Beach Groundhog's Day tournament to win the Championship game. The PIRANAZ rolled through the first 3 tournament games outscoring their opponents 41-4. Their first test came against a new Stealth team on Sunday. Late in the game, the PIRANAZ grooved a 3-0 fast ball that ended up on the other side of the center field fence for a 2 run home run that put the Stealth ahead 7-6. The fish would not be denied. Even with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th..... losing 7-6...... and with 2 strikes on the batter..... Gio Richardson was sent to steal home and tied the game at 7. After a pair of stolen bases, the PIRANAZ had another runner on 3rd base. After a wild pitch and a play at the plate, David Powers crossed the plate for the winning run, sending the PIRANAZ to the semi finals after an amazing finish!
But of course, the fun was soon to end. Anytime you get the PIRANAZ and the West Boynton Lightning together, you are going to have one solid ball game. West Boynton brought out the big bats right from the start smashing 2 deep bombs over the fence. Boynton pitcher Michael Materetsky was on fire the whole game and the Lightning was cruising to a sure victory, ahead 7-1 into the bottom of the 5th. The Lightning closer came in and suddenly the PIRANAZ bats woke up and pounded out hit after hit to make the most amazing come back and tie the game at 7. Gio Richardson shut the Lightning down in the top of the 6th with some great pitching. Finally, in the bottom of the 6th, with a tie game, Zach Hurley fought off the hard throwing Lightning pitcher and singled to center to drive in the game winning run. This was an epic battle that will surely continue with these two tough teams.
In the final game. The PIRANAZ rolled on to beat the Boca Bombers and take a home a hard earned trophy in some of the most exciting baseball they have ever played in. Thank you to the West Boynton team for hosting such a great event!!
