11U Coconut Creek Hawks Claim Silver Medal at Disney


The 11U Coconut Creek Hawks played in Disney’s “Turn Back the Clock Weekend” tournament.  The Hawks boys battled all weekend and played six games in four days, placing as the 2nd seed in the championship round for the Cal Ripken division.  They walked away proudly, claiming 2nd place and the silver medal! 

 

The Hawks tied their first game against the Brandywine Bulldogs from Pennsylvania 6-6 after reaching the time limit in the 6th inning Friday.  Saturday the Hawks played a tough double header losing game 1 to the strong Maple Zone Muckdawgs 5-1.  The Hawks bounced back strong in game 2 crushing the Riverdogs from South Carolina 11-1 by run ruling them with a walk off double by Brandon Diaz.  Justin Conte, Antonio Wilson, and Brandon Diaz led the team offensively throughout this Labor Day tournament.  

 

Sunday the Hawks played fellow Premier team, the Miami Sugar Kings in the final pool game winning 11 to 10 in a wild shoot out.  The Hawks seeded 2nd and played the Sugar Kings again edging them in the 1st playoff game 1-0. An outstanding pitching performance by Anthony Parrales sealed the 1-0 victory with Anthony pitching a complete game. 

 

The Hawks fought hard Monday morning but fell short losing to the Muckdawgs 8-3 tough gold medal round game.

 

Outstanding pitching performances came from Bastian Munoz, Bryce Costello, Joseph Amoroso, and Antonio Wilson.  Solid fielding from Alex Skirvin, and Chris Ajello helped the team claim silver at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.

 

Way to go Creek Hawks!
