Florida Elite Invitational Tournament


Mo Steel Baseball is crowned champions of the USSSA Florida Elite Invitational this past weekend in Tampa. Mo Steel was crowned champions after finishing pool play as the #1 seed. In the first game of the tournament Mo Steel faced of against a very good Lakeland Lightning team. Pitching was the name of the game for Mo Steel this weekend as Armando Sierra and Yordani Carmona held the Lakeland Lightning team to just one hit no walks no runs. The offense was led by Brian Paso and Carlos Castillo, final score 10-0. In the second game Mo Steel faced the Clearmont Outlaws and the dominant pitching was again in effect as Edgar Quintana and Carlos (Kike) Fernandez combined to throw a perfect game (no hits, no walks, no runs). This time the offense was lead by OJ Borroto and Carlos Fernandez final score 9-0. On Sunday mother nature took over and the tournament was canceled. It was shaping up to be a great Sunday as four of the top ranked teams in the country based on the Travel Ball Select National rankings were in the hunt for the rings,(#2 Team Miami, #3 Mo Steel, #6 Georgia Yard Dogs, and # 13 Tampa Titans/Bullets). Final standings after pool play and as determined by the tournament 1st place Mo Steel Baseball, 2nd place Team Miami, 3rd place Georgia Yard Dogs, and 4th place Tampa Titians/Bullets.
