The Weston Rattlers traveled to Hialeah on Saturday morning and beat the Hialeah Giants 10-5. At least for one day The Weston Rattlers took over sole possession of first place in the 9U South Division of the Florida Premiere League.

Daniel Santolongo had two hits and scored twice while First Baseman Luke Pollack blasted a 2 run homer. Lead-off hitter Brandon Ortiz went two for three and scored three times, Nico Hansen had a hit and scored and Catcher Ivan Herrrera ripped a triple with an rbi and one run scored.

Although the defense showed some cracks, the team made the plays when they had to including handling their first bunt defense using new signs. The Rattlers also threw out a runner at the plate and made several tough catches in the outfield.

Starting Pitcher Cesar Rodriguez was masterful, throwing fastballs away all day long and getting most of the Giants to miss. Rodriguez went four and a third innings scattering six hits and striking out three Giants. Brandon Ortiz closed out the game and got the save. The Rattler 9's are 3-0-1.
