Fort Lauderdale Lightning Wins 2011 FPBL 12U AA Fall Season Championship
Who says Lightning doesn't strike twice! After a thrilling day of baseball last Sunday in which the Lightning beat the Pasadena Panthers, Coconut Creek Hawks and the Parkland Pokers to win the 12U AA South Championship, the boys from Fort Lauderdale were at it again. In the semifinal, James Lochrie held Team Rawlings scoreless after giving up 2 runs in the top of the first as the Lightning came away with a 10-2 victory. Then, in the Fall Season Championship game, the Lightning faced the Pokers from Parkland once again. The Lightning raced out to a fantastic start...scoring four in the top of first inning and then settled in behind some solid pitching from Logan O'Neil. The Lightning scored in the top of the first, third, fifth and sixth innings and only gave up one run until the Pokers fought back gamely in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 10-5. Shane Williams came in to close out the championship by getting the last two outs of the ballgame.
Congratulations to Team Rawlings, the St. Lucie Mets, the Parkland Pokers and the champion Fort Lauderdale Lightning for playing some excellent baseball all day in Lantana on Saturday.
