The first annual Wellington Warriors Winter Invitational was a HUGE success!!!. The Wellington Warriors 10U team is known for their hospitality when running an event, and many people raved and complimented on how well the tournament was run. Their concession featured steak sandwiches, GIANT shrimp on a skewer, chicken, sausage and peppers, angus beef hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and nachos – all provided by one of the sponsors, DJ’s Steak & Seafood. Fans did not leave the tournament hungry! The tournament sold out in all divisions with 24 teams and some of the top teams in South Florida participated in this event. Florida Premier was well represented among the teams with almost ½ of the teams being FPBL teams. The weather was fantastic, the competition was strong and there was some exciting games that were played. In the 9U division, FPBL’s own, West Pines Nike Cobras won the championship with a walk off 175 foot bomb to win. In the 10U division, FPL’s Weston Rattlers Maroon eliminated a tough Florida Fire team (from Orlando) in the semis, but the Rattlers came up short to the Miami Enforcers in the Championship game. The 11U Champions were the Devcon Diamond Dawgs who defeated their park rival, the Okeeheelee Legends 3-1. Team Worth FLA, from Stuart edged out the Wellington Warriors in the 12U division.
