Davie Broncos take advantage of the Weston Eagles wildness to win the opening game for both teams. The Broncos opened the top of the first scoring 4 times without ever putting the ball in play. The Eagles got 2 back in the bottom of the first on a 2 run Hr by Max Turner. The Eagles got it back to within 1 at 4-3 after two, but wildness in the top of the 3rd allowed the Broncos to go up 6 -3.
A great defensive play the Broncos leftfielder prevented the Eagles from tying game. The Eagles had the tying run on base and Justin Payan hit a looping line drive with 2 outs and the broncos leftfielder made a great diving backhanded catch to rob the Eagles.
In the bottom of the 3rd the Eagles were able to pull within 6-5, in top of the fourth the Broncos went up 9 to 5, aided by an error to leadoff the inning. The Broncos got their first and only hits in the frame and executed a terrific hit and run to set up the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, the last inning due to time, the Broncos got the first 2 outs via K and with the Eagles down to their last out they put together a 2 out rally. Anthony Cilio worked a 2 out walk to bring up Tyler Jones who laced a line drive single to right center. Leadoff hitter Kyle Marina worked a BB to load the bases. Jaden Batista also worked a walk to force in a run to bring up Max Turner. Max who had homered earlier is the Eagles best hitter and the Eagles could not ask for a better situation. On an 0-1 pitch Turner hit a deep flyball to leftfield and the leftfielder was playing a couple of steps before the warning track and did not have to move and secured the ball for the third out.
Turner had 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Eagles, Batista was on base 3 times... The Eagles battled hard vs the Broncos and were not able to make up the early defecit..The Eagles will be in action vs the Plantation Stars on Monday and will try to get in the win column for the first time.
