The biggest event for Youth Travel Baseball is just around the corner, the USSSA Elite 24 World Series. This event is by far the best and most competitive tournament around. The top 24 teams in the Country NOT just Orlando, will compete for a week in the Wide World of Sports in Orlando for a chance to be crown Champion.
This event has grown to be known as the EVENT to go to. In order to be able to attend you have to qualify and the qualifiers attracts the best teams and to qualify for the Elite 24 you have to win it !.................there is no birth given for second place. This year the Elite 24 is being held in Kissimmee on May 18-20th and over 160 teams are expected to take part in this event. Another qualifier will take place in Pensacola in June and that will be it for the State of Florida.
So, who dares to go from the FPBL and South Florida? Well, in the past, there is only been a few teams from the FPBL and South Florida that have made the trip and I may say that only the 2004 Broward Bulldogs in the Elite 16 Inaugural Year made it to the finals, but came up short against the San Diego Stars. The '04 Broward Canes ,05 SF Snappers and Homestead Storm also took part, but all fell short in their quest.
There are few teams from our league and South Florida that will dare, while other leagues are promising a piece of Puerto Rico for Free !
