The West Pines Cobras 11U made their dreams come true this Memorial Day Weekend as they swept Disney’s Sun & Surf Baseball Bash.  The champion Cobras, led by Coaches Arsenio Rondon, Habby Khawly, and Angel Villar, went 5-0, for a perfect tournament record.

The first game against the Weston Black Hawks was tight until the 4^th inning when the Cobras broke away to a victory of 8-4.  The Cobras excelled in their next two games, beating Team Melanoma from Illinois 16-1, and the Traditional Mets from Port St. Lucie 11-4.  The Cobras continued on a roll nearly shouting out the St. Cloud Storm by a score of 13-1 in the elimination round.

 

Monday’s Championship game against the Traditional Mets turned out to be a real “nail biter”.  The opposing team came out with strong pitching holding the Cobras to a 4-1 deficit, until the Cobras unleashed 5 runs in the 5^th inning to take it over the top and win by a final score of 6-4.   

 

A signature “Olé, Olé” cheer goes out to congratulate the Champion Cobras, Hector Abreu, Ryan Badaraco, Jeremy Chaiser, Michael Escarra, Anthony Gomez, Anthony Gutierrez, Jack Khawly (series MVP), Matthew Rondon, Sebastian Torres, Brian Van Belle, and David Villar for a spectacular tournament.
