The West Pines "Nike" Cobras have had a lot of success over the years and is one of the better teams in their age group nationwide, but the '08 Spring season has not been  one to remember. This season the team has seen its share of ups & downs, but probably more downs than ups by their own standards. They lost their own "Nike" Invitational Tournament to the Leon Medical Center team a team that recently won the Cooperstown Tournament, they lost in the semi-finals of the league Championship to the South Florida Stealth and just recently lost In Cooperstown in smog filled game to the East Cobb Astros 6-4 a lost that shattered the hopes of seen  Leon Medical Center in an all South Florida Cooperstown Championship Game. It was that......but it did not Include the Nike Cobras Instead it was another South Florida Team that made it, the Miami Playmakers were the other team that faced Leon Medical Center in the Championship Game.

Now, "Nike" goes out to compete in the most coveted and prestigious Youth Baseball Tournament in the Country and that is USSSA Elite 24..............Can "Nike" bring back the swagger that they once had in South Florida or will their woes continue?

If they're to do it, they will have to do it against the best 24 teams in the Country. The USSSA Elite 24 brings out all of the teams from all of the different affiliations together for a chance to walk away with the trophy of the best Baseball Tournament that you will ever attend when it comes to facing the best competition that you will ever find in one tournament.

Well, on August 3-10 we will find out If "Nike" will come back with that swagger that they once had and be the only South Florida team to wear the Elite 24 crown...........................I wouldn't bet against them !
