11U Wellington Warriors Successful trip to St. Augustine.....Places 3rd In Nationals
Wellington Warriors 11's finish third in this years Triple Crown Saint Augustine
National Tournament. After finishing pool play 1-1, the Warriors got down to
business. In their first playoff game the Warriors beat Krew Baseball 7-2
powered by a complete game by Tristan McKenzie and a 2 run home run by Matthew
Careccia. Then we beat Boca Blue Lightning 8-4, Jagger McCoy pitched a
complete game and A.J Gallichio hit a 3 run bomb. In the quarter final The
Warriors leaned on Anthony (The Show) Maldonado's shoulders for a 2-0 complete
game victory over the South Florida Bombers. In the semi finals the Warriors
battled the always tough Miami Playmakers. The Warriors jumped to an early 2-0
lead over the playmakers, but the Playmakers answered back by scoring 6
unanswered runs. The Warriors showed some resilience by rallying in the last
inning but still coming up on the short end of the stick in a 6-3 loss.
The
Playmakers went on to win the championship game 6-5 over Leon Medical. The
Warriors pitching, clutch hitting and team defense was just outstanding through
out the tournament. The team showed a passion that just did not let up. Florida
Premiere was represented well as the South Florida Stealth were co third place
finishers with the Wellington Warriors.
