Close to 50 teams from the FPBL make the trip to St Augustine...............
So, what is it ? the Competition, the City or just a well run tournament that everyone loves to play in, no matter how expensive it may be or what the awards are.............we've all gone to Triple Crown Nationals and this season despite how tough the economy may be, close to 50 teams from the FPBL /TC Division and near 80 teams from South Florida made the trip to St Augustine, Fl.
What ever the reason, to most teams it's worth it. Many of the league teams did extremely well as they usually do. The tournament is now broken into three separate weekends and it concluded yesterday with this season 10's, 12's & 14's Under Divisions.
Below is a recap of this years FPBL/TC Teams that made the trip to St. Augustine.
Our 8's division teams made the trip for the first time and we did ok as Frozen Ropes from Stuart finished in 3rd place, the highest of the FPBL family teams. the Hialeah Crush and Hialeah Giants placed 7th & 8th respectively.
9Under Division: we had two of the league's top teams coming in third pace in the Wellington Warriors and the South Florida Extreme.
10Under division: The PL Bulldogs defeated Jacksonville's Mizuno's Glory Baseball to capture their first Triple Crown title. The league had some of the top teams competing and did extreme well, the league ended with 4 teams in the top 10 of the 22 teams in the contest. The Cobras placed 3rd place, followed by the West Boca Panthers 5th place, Wellington Warriors 7th and the Piranaz finishing in 10th place. More than a third of the teams playing in this age division play in the FPBL/TC division.
11Under Division: This division had two Cooperstown Champions in the finals with the Miami Playmakers defeating Leon Medical Center, but our league teams did extremely well with Wellington Warriors finishing in 3rd place along with the SF Stealth and rounding out the top 10 were, Miramar Canes, Pro Ball Baseball , Boca Blue Lightning, Team Worth & West Pines Cobras.
12Under Division: Another top class of teams in this group, with the Dynasty Elite team finishing in third pace after losing a close one to crosstown rival Miami Enforcers 4-2. The west Pines Cobras round it up a top 10 finish by placing in 6th place.
13Under Division: In this age group we had the lowest turnout of teams with only two teams from the FPBL and one from the TC Division. The South Florida Scorpions, West Pines Cobras (FPBL) and the Northstars & Frozen ropes Blast from the TC, but one of the teams that made it to the finals did played with us last season and that was the Broward Reddogs who faced the Miami Brawlers again, in the finals, but came up short in a 4-2 contest.
14Under Division: The Coral Springs Diamonds finished in third place losing to the eventual Champion in the SWF YardDawgs. The SF Elite finished in 6th place, with the West Pines Cobras and the Palm Beach Cardinals rounding out the top 10 teams.
16U Division: The Weston Hawks lead this division from start to finish as they would take the Crown defeating the TC Division rival Team Worth in the finals.
All in all a very successful trip for the Florida teams in St. Augustine............Congratulations to all !!!
