After sitting around for a day and a half waiting for the rain to stop, the Pembroke Lakes Bulldogs 10U team went on a 6 game roll to win the Triple Crown Sports Fall Nationals in
The Bulldogs, seeded #3 by defeating the Jacksonville Bandits and Miami Titans. Because of the all the rain, the tournament format went to single elimination so every game was win or GO HOME on Sunday. The Bulldogs started the morning by defeating the West Boynton Gators to advance to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, the Bulldogs had to face a tough Wellington Warriors team. The game was close to the very end but the Bulldogs were able to pull out a win to advance to the semis. In the Semi-final game, the Bulldogs faced off against their cross town rivals the #2 seed West Pines Cobras. The Bulldogs got an early lead but the Cobras continued to fight back. In the end the Bulldogs pitching and defense was too much for the Cobras. The Bulldogs advanced to the Championship game against the much talked about #1 seed Mizuno Glory Baseball team.
The Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead but let it slip away with Glory Baseball tying the score in the 3rd inning. Again the Bulldogs pulled ahead 5-3 in the 5th but Glory roared back to take a 6-5 lead going into the 6th inning. The Bulldogs had their backs to fence but never gave up. Not only did they tie the game on great base hitting and aggressive bases running, they took a 5 run lead in the 6th inning. Glory Baseball came up to bat with some heavy hitters but was only able to score 1 more run on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs played with all HEART and left everything on the field never giving up, defeating Glory Baseball 11-7.
