The Wellington Warriors
- Purple swept Renteria 7-5, and 15-0 in Miami Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors
fell behind early to the home team with a number of walks in the first inning.
A key double play turned by Jason Fox and Xavier Edwards stopped a potential big
inning for Renteria. The Warrior bats began to heat up in the third inning with
Nick "mailbox" Adams delivering a double. The Warriors went on to score 3 runs
in the inning and take control of the game. The leading hitters on the day for
the Warriors were Nick Adams, Kyle Bowman, TJ McKenzie, Xavier Edwards, Xavier
Smith, Andrew Johnson, and Will Anglin.
In the second game the Warriors got a great pitching effort from Jacob Mercado. The Warriors put up 9 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Kyle Bowman hit a mammoth triple, and Xavier Edwards hit a big homerun. Jacob Weiss delivered a clutch hit during the big inning. Defensively the Warriors held Renteria scoreless with some great pitching and great catching. Will Anglin threw out 2 runners as they were trying to steal, and Xavier Edwards made a great throw to Jacob Mercado at the plate to stop another potential run. The Warriors are coming to a difficult stretch in the schedule. A tough game Tuesday night pits the Warriors against 9u National Division Wellington Warriors - gold. Next Weekend has the Warriors traveling to Pembroke Pines on Saturday to face the tough West Pines Team, followed by a showdown at home with the South Florida Extreme on Sunday.
