Sandlots Mia Veliz Goes The Distance Pitching a 2 Hit Shutout........................

Sandlots Mia Veliz pitched a gem against West Boynton allowing only 2 hits, striking out 4 and with only 1 walk in a 6 inning game. The Sandlot won the first game of a doubleheader 4-0.
In the 2nd game Cameron Brooks and Tyler Rose combined for a 6-5 win. The Sandlot was trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the 6th. Cameron Brooks led off with an infield hit. He stole 2nd and 3rd. Next batter Andrew Boorom walked and stole 2nd. The third batter Justin Verardi walked to load the bases with no outs. Shane Marr sacrificed to centerfield scoring Cameron and cutting the lead to 5-4. With runners on 1st and 2nd Matty Terry moved the runners over with a hard hit ball to short for the 2nd out. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th Mia Veliz hit a 1-2 pitch to 3rd base scoring 2 runs on a wild throw for the walk-off win 6-5. This brings the Sandlot¢s win streak to 5.
