10U Pembroke Lakes Bulldogs take the Triple Crown Chase for the Champions!!

On Sunday night March 29th, the rivalry between the 10U Pembroke Lake Bulldogs and the West Pines Nike Cobras was renewed. After a 4 hour rain delay, the Bulldogs and Cobras breezed thru their Semi-finals of the Triple Crown Spring Chase for the Champions to meet up for an 8 inning battle that lasted past midnight.

The Bulldogs trailed most of the game but were able to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th inning. Both teams were scoreless in the 6th leading to extra innings. The Cobras struck first with a bomb to center field, followed by another well hit ball to the outfield to go up by 2. In the bottom of the 7th, inning, the Bulldogs answered with their own bomb to center field followed by a couple of base hits to tie the game again at 10-10. The Bulldogs were able to hold the Cobras scoreless in the top of the 8th. With no outs, the Bulldogs were able to advance their runner at 2nd to 3rd and in position to score and defend their title of Spring Chase for the Champions . On a ground ball hit to the 2nd baseman, the runner at 3rd went and was safe at the plate. The Bulldogs win 11-10. Both teams came up with some big hits and some great defensive plays to make this a great game but the Bulldogs' great TEAM effort put them on top. I am sure this is a match up we will be seeing again in a Championship game in the near future.
