The Boca Thunder won their second USSSA tournament this year by winning the Canes World Series classic tournament. The tournament had many rain delays and the championship game did not complete until well past midnight Tuesday morning. In the first elimination game the Thunder faced the Miami Lakes Bombers. The Thunder fell behind 2-0 in the first inning but great pitching and defense shut the Bombers out the rest of the game and the Thunder won 6-2. In the semi-finals they faced the PPO Bengals, who had defeated the West Pines Cobras in a thrilling 3 extra innings contest. The Thunder bats came alive in the first inning and they jumped out to an early lead. Excellent pitching, solid defense and timely hitting paved the way for an 8-2 win. In the finals they faced the Pembroke Lakes Bulldogs who had defeated the Coral Springs Panthers in another exciting extra inning game. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning but the Thunder battled back to take the lead by one run. The Bulldogs tied the game in their next at bat but the Thunder put the game away their next at bat with a 5 run inning. Final score Thunder 9 and the Bulldogs 6.
