13u Miramar Canes Capture World Series Championship in Panama City
The Miramar Canes won the Grand Slam World Series Championship at Panama City
Beach, FL, going 7-0-1 to win the 13U title.
After tying the Powder
Springs Seminoles GA 3-3 in a rematch game of last year's Elite Eight teams at
Cooperstown Dreams Park, the Canes ran the table, staying in the winner bracket
in the double-elimination 32-team Grand Slam tournament with 7 straight wins,
including an 11-9 slugfest victory over Knights Baseball of Mississippi in the
championship game.
The Canes defeated the vaunted Knights twice
including a quarterfinal come-from-behind 10-7 win. The Knights had been
winners of their last 14 straight games in USSSA tournament play, four straight
tournaments and came into Panama City Beach ranked #1 in
Mississippi.
The Panama City Beach World Series tournament hosted by
Grand Slam Sports, featured teams from 17 states... a kick-off beach party
hosted by the team under the fireworks on July 4th made for a terrific start of
the week for the Canes and the week ended with a celebratory victory pool party
right after the championship game on July 11th.
