9u PIRANAZ come from behind to beat MO STEEL
Anytime you get the PIRANAZ and Mo Steel together on the ball field you can expect to see one well played, intense ball game. These are 2 of the toughest teams in the 9U division and it certainly showed this past Sunday. The undefeated Mo Steel team rallied early in the first inning and put up 5 quick runs against the PIRANAZ defense. Things were looking good from the start for Mo Steel but the PIRANAZ battled back the rest of the game, 1 run at a time to close the gap and tie the game in the 4th inning. Gio Richardson's outstanding defense at shortstop along with a towering shot to deep center for a triple helped fuel the comeback.
In the top of the final inning with the score tied, the PIRANAZ managed to push across another 2 runs by a hard hit line drive by Trey Newland to put the fish up 7-5. The PIRANAZ knew that the tough Mo Steel would not go down easy as they still had to bat in the bottom half of the final inning. Lefty pitcher Tyler Townsend, who started the game for the PIRANAZ and managed to keep the hard hitting Mo Steel batters off balance the whole game with his timely off speed pitches, threw an amazing complete game and managed to close out a tense final inning and give the PIRANAZ the victory.
You can bet that these 2 teams will face off again in the FPBL playoffs so look forward to another nail biter game when they meet again.
