Boca Thunder 13u Captures USSSA Memorial Day Tournament in Coral Springs
The Boca Thunder went undefeated
while taking home the championship in the USSSA Coral Springs Memorial
tournament. The Thunder’s defense and pitching was exceptional the entire
weekend as they only allowed 7 runs in the 5 games they played. They won their
pool after posting a 4-2 victory over the Weston Black Hawks and a 12-2 win over
the Coral Springs
Sea Dogs. In the first game of elimination play the Thunder’s
offense proved too much for the Pompano Piranhas as they cruised to a 14-0
victory. In the semi-finals they took on a tough Broward Jaguar team. The
Thunder got the early lead but in the 5th inning the Jaguars fought
back and tied the score at 3 runs a piece. The game went into extra innings
where the Thunder pulled off a suicide squeeze to win the game 4-3. In the championship game they took on Dynasty
Elite who had only allowed 3 runs in their previous 3 games. The Thunder’s
pitching and defense both came through with outstanding performances as they
held Dynasty scoreless through 6 innings while building an 8-0 lead. In their
last at bat Dynasty fought back and scored 3 runs but it was too little too late
as the Thunder won by a score of 8-3.
