The Miami Suns (11U) are coming on strong with a five game winning streak that have propelled them to contention for the 2010 Fall Season. The Suns lead by Coach Oscar Dieppas opened the season with a dominating win against the Miami Lakes Bombers but fell behind in the standings with losses to the Miramar Canes, PPO Bengals, and Miami Sugar Kings. Going into their next five games; which included division rivals PLO Bulldogs, WPPO Cobras and Miami Sugar Kings; with a 1 – 3 record the Suns needed to come together if they had any chance of post season play. It looked like a hard climb for the Suns but together they got.
The Suns started this next series of five games with a convincing 8 – 0 win against the PLO Bulldogs. The game was dominated with great pitching from the Sun’s Ace Christian Santana who shut out the Bulldogs. Their next opponent was the hard playing WPPO Cobras who was coming off a Spring Divisional Championship. The Suns played a hard no error game with great pitching from Luisito Tuero and Derek Perals to a 5 – 3 win. Now the Suns needed to face the Miami Sugar Kings; a team that they lost to 6-2 two weeks earlier; and revenge the earlier loss. The Sugar Kings came out to an early 4 – 2 lead but the Suns roared back with a 5 run third inning and shutting out the Sugar Kings with great defense wining the game 7 – 4. The Suns then finished their five game series facing the PSN Rebels who matched up well going into the third inning tied with the Suns. The Suns then woke up the bats and 9 unanswered runs wining convincingly 11 – 3.
There are a lot of games left but with the Suns HEATING UP they have become a team that will contend for the 11U (Red) Division and post season play.
