12u Pembroke Lakes Wildcats Ready for the Elite 8 in the 12u Division
The 12U Pembroke Lakes Wildcats, the division champions, continue with their dominant pitching into the start of the playoffs. Saturday, they beat the Plantation Stars, 6-0, behind the combined no-hit pitching of Daniel Rivero, who went the first four innings, and Nick Manocchio who preserved the gem by pitching the last 2 innings and advancing the team to the Elite Eight. Overall, the Wildcats have allowed 56 runs all season, which is second best amongst all the 12U Divisions and only behind the 53 runs allowed by Mo Steel.
The Wildcats have had 3 no hitters this season including the previous one when they beat the Scorpions on Saturday, November 6th, behind the second no-hitter of the season by Daniel Rivero. The Scorpions managed one unearned run via a walk and an error which was the first and only run scored against Rivero this season. Rivero had beaten the Scorpions before on October 10th in four innings and pitching a shutout, no-hitter, with 8 of the 12 outs coming by the big K! He had pitched two other shutouts before, a complete game gem against the Pasadena Panthers and then combining with his battery mate Nick MacDonald to shutout the Plantation Stars. Great job boys!
