Travel baseball has finally come to Hollywood’s Rotary Park!!! The new Hollywood Heat will enter 9U, 11U and 12U teams into the Florida Premier Baseball League commencing in the Spring 2011 season, while the Rotary Park recreational baseball program is considering joining the new USSSA SFBA Draft Alliance League.
“For 47 years we have maintained successful recreational baseball and softball programs, and our Board of Directors has realized that we can add a competitive option to complement our existing program,” states Mike Murazzi, Travel Committee Board Member. “I think the turning point was when our Board members looked around and the majority of the members had children playing at other parks.”
“Our Park has always put out quality baseball players. They would just leave the program when they reached the next skill level.” states Jamie Callari, Board Member and Manager of the 12U Hollywood Heat. “I grew up in Hollywood, played here at Rotary Park, and want my children to have the opportunity to play in our neighborhood representing our community.”
The Hollywood Heat Travel Teams will play out of Rotary Park (see www.rotarypark.com), and the Rotary Park recreational baseball league, for ages 4 to 15, will maintain its in-house program while coordinating with the FBPL for inclusion into the Alliance for postseason competition.
